For the first time, Foothill will offer its popular NANO 10: Introduction to Nanotechnology at Palo Alto High School this fall. The course focuses on the principles and key concepts of nanoscience and nanotechnology, and is the first course in the Foothill nanoscience certificate series. NOTE: Although this course is listed in the summer schedule, it meets Aug. 18 through Dec. 19. For registration assistance for this course, call (650) 949-7259 or e-mail PSME@foothill.edu.
Learn how to operate scanning electron and atomic force microscopes as you study molecular and material structures, properties of nanomaterials and nanostructures, and phenomenon unique to the nanoscale dimension.
You’ll also focus on the applications of nanomaterials and how they may address key challenges in energy, food, water, medicine and computing. The course includes tours of academic and commercial laboratories that conduct nano-research, materials characterization and failure analysis.
The five-unit course transfers to CSU and UC. For registration instructions, access www.foothill.edu.
