Steps to Prepare for Your SOAR Workshop
Apply to Foothill College. Submit an online application. There is no fee to apply. When you complete your online application, you'll receive a welcome letter sent to your e-mail, usually within 24 hours, that includes your Foothill College Student ID number, also known as your CWID. This will be your personal identifier for your entire Foothill College experience, and you'll use it for numerous transactions with the college, including your placement tests, counseling appointments and registration. Keep your CWID secret, safe and secure. Treat your CWID as you do your credit card. Remember, your CWID opens records to your personal information. If for any reason you do not receive an e-mail with your CWID, call the Foothill College Admissions & Records Office at (650) 949-7325.
Bring your ID. Be certain to bring a photo ID and your CWID number to your SOAR workshop. You will need both for testing at the Assessment Center.
Register for the workshop. You only need to attend one workshop. Review the SOAR Web page, choose the time and date that work best for you, and register for your workshop. After you complete the online registration form for your SOAR workshop, you will receive an e-mail confirmation detailing where to park on campus, a schedule for the SOAR, the room number for orientation and a campus map.
Plan Now, Get Priority Later
Beginning this fall, new state laws will give priority registration to students who complete an orientation and assessment, work with a counselor to develop an education plan, succeed in their classes and make progress toward completing their academic goals.
“To help new students receive priority registration, Foothill College is presenting one-stop SOAR enrollment workshops this spring so that you can complete required assessment, orientation and education plan development well before Fall Quarter gets under way in September,” says Foothill College Vice President of Student Services Denise Swett, Ed.D. “The thoughtful planning you do now will ensure that your Foothill experience is streamlined and successful.”
In order to register for subsequent quarters, new laws will require all California community college students to file an individual education plan, maintain academic good standing and demonstrate progress toward completion of their academic goals.
