A bloodthirsty plant and the talented cast of the Foothill College production of Little Shop of Horrors, helped the Foothill Commission raise $16,500 at its winter musical fundraiser at the Foothill College Lohman Theatre in Los Altos Hills March 7. Proceeds will be used to benefit award-winning Foothill Music Theatre productions.
Foothill theatre arts instructors Milissa Carey and Tom Gough were thrilled with the sold-out performance as well as the commission’s continued support of the college’s programs. “The support of the commission through the years has been vital to the preservation of our theatre arts program,” said Carey, who directed Foothill’s Little Shop of Horrors. “We give them our gratitude for their commitment.”
Carla Stevenson and Steve Acers co-chaired the event, and commissioners personally invited guests to the one-night-only fundraiser. Sponsorship gifts from Diane Doolittle; Jan and Bob Fenwick; Gilbane Building Company; Mady and Mel Kahn; Maas Companies, Inc.; Penelope Midlock; Ann Rando; Barbara and Bruce Swenson; Foothill-De Anza Community College District (FHDA) Trustee Joan Barram; FHDA Chancellor Linda M. Thor, Ed.D.; and Foothill College President Judy C. Miner, Ed.D., added to the success of this fundraising effort. During intermission, guests sipped prosecco and sampled desserts from Schumann’s Four Seasons Caterers.
Throughout the year, Foothill brings exciting dramas and musicals to our community. Upcoming Foothill theatre productions include:
·The Assembly-Women, written by Aristophanes and directed by Foothill’s Tom Gough, plays May 23–June 8 in the Lohman Theatre.
