At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, a De Anza College student reported that she had been sexually assaulted on Monday, Nov. 4, between 1 and 2 p.m. in a restroom in the Media & Learning Center at De Anza College in Cupertino. The alleged attacker is known to her, and all indications are that this is an isolated incident. The Santa Clara Co. Sheriff's Office and Foothill-De Anza Police are investigating. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
The Foothill-De Anza Community College District Police Department maintains a presence on both Foothill and De Anza campuses. Both campuses are patrolled 24 hours a day, seven days a week including holidays. Foothill College and De Anza College are sister schools, and make up the Foothill-De Anza Community College District.
- Reporting Sexual Assault On or Off Campus—The Foothill-De Anza Police Department will investigate allegations of sexual assault and take appropriate disciplinary, criminal, or legal action for any crimes that occur within its jurisdiction.
- Report Emergencies or Crimes in Progress—To report crimes in progress or police, fire or medical emergencies on campus, call 9-1-1 or (408) 924-8000 from your cell phone, or 9-1-1 from any campus phone. Emergencies can also be reported by using one of the emergency telephones located throughout facilities and parking areas on both campuses. Even if you are unable to speak, the dispatcher or operator can locate the phone from which you are calling and a police officer will be dispatched to your location.
