On-Campus Employment

Employment is considered on-campus only if it is on the campus of the school/university that issued your I-20. Generally, international students are able to find part-time positions at the bookstore, library, cafeteria or other offices at Foothill College.

Eligibility and limitations
International students are eligible for on-campus employment two weeks after the beginning of their first quarter of enrollment at Foothill College. Additionally, you have to demonstrate that you have not violated immigration regulations, are in lawful F-1 immigration status and are registered for a minimum of 12 units (except the summer quarter).

You are permitted to work up to a maximum of 20 hours per week during fall, winter and spring quarters.

Summer Employment:
In the summer, the number of hours per week of allowable on-campus employment is controlled by whether or not the F-1 student was employed during the previous Spring term or will be employed during the Fall term that follows the summer.

If an F-1 student was employed during the Spring term or will be employed in the Fall term, the student is allowed to work up to 25 hours per week during the the six-week summer session. This applies to all students who are enrolled in summer session classes or not. During the period after the last day of the six-week summer session and until the first day of the Fall term, the student can work up to 40 hours per week.

If an F-1 student was not employed during the Spring term, the student must be enrolled in at least 6 units in the summer in order to be employed on-campus for a maximum of 25 hours per week during the six-week summer session. During the period after the last day of the six-week summer session and until the first day of the Fall term, the student can work up to 40 hours per week.
